Over the weekend I had a few of my co-workers around for a few beers and we all set about trying to complete a few DIY projects and such, and a bit of general handyman stuff, much to the delight of my wife. Now as a disclaimer I should say it's not a good idea to drink and operate power tools! haha.
The result of a hard weekend of work was a nice new wooden work bench to put in my garage/workshop. The construction of this beast ended up being a bit more laborious than any of us would have thought starting out when looking at the blueprints I found online. (perhaps the beers slowed us down a wee bit aha!) But with the help of my buddies, and enough head scratching to make me go bald we prevailed.
My good buddy dave lent me a great drill press, and bandsaw for this job which made it a hell of a lot easier than it would have been if i didn't have the access to these tools, but that's not to say they're necessary for this kind of project... they just make it go a lot smoother. And if I'm not borrowing Dave's tools and drill press sometimes i rig up a DIY dp just from a hand held drill but to be honest it doesn't really cut the mustard when it comes to doing a decent job.
Oh and I almost forgot to mention I've been reading some reviews online about drill presses because I'm thinking of getting myself one later this year for christmas hahaha. I'm leaning towards the skil model here drillpresspro.com
anyways I will be borrowing daves stuff for a while longer so i better make a good job of this liquor cabinet for him! Also check out the interesting video below this show a home made dp! Talk about do it yourself...
